Darn – the weekend is over? This week is a particularly busy week at work so trying to keep my head afloat will be key. All I can do is remember the highlights of the weekend so let’s spread some marvelousness.
I am not one to want to cover anything up with rainbows and sunshine so I will be real – I have just not been feeling so great. No physically, more so mentally. I wish I could pinpoint it, I really do, but I can’t. I feel I am being overly hard on myself and homesickness to the tenth degree. Times like these happen, it is less about keep kicking myself when I am down and more about finding a way to pick myself up.
So marvelous it is.
Marvelous is… my Saturday run date with Molly. I have to thank her for putting up with me, I was not quite on my game. I nearly puked mid way through due to the stupid idea I had of taking ibuprofen before the run. Smart child I am. I am hoping the hot shower and DD coffee I gave her afterwards makes up for the three miles we had to run home post run. My bad…(oh and please tell me this song isn’t freaking catchy?)
Marvelous is… coffee date with Molly, Megan and Allison. I couldn’t believe how we all just chatted away the afternoon. I got a huge kick out of spending time with these ladies and it was the kind of laughter I needed, like really needed. I am trying to even bribe Charlie (Allison’s dog) by bringing a Snuggie for him. Best friend status? I think that is a big yes. Anyways, it was the kind of afternoon I needed.
Marvelous is… my long run Sunday. I was kind of freaking out about the leg pain. Guess what? Between stretching and being quite careful, I felt no pain and enjoyed every single moment of that run. It did help it was a nice 50 degrees when I ran in the am, plus the Top 40 countdown on Kiss 108 playing in my ears.
Marvelous is… reconnecting with an old buddy. I won’t lie, I have been terrible with staying in touch but her reaching out made me realize how much I miss her. I am hoping to see her this upcoming weekend sometime.
Marvelous is… sore arms. Putting on deodorant hurts. Those fly muscles are feeling the burn.
Marvelous is… realizing some battles are not worth fighting. Thank goodness I have this girl to keep me sane and talk me off the cliff. I am one who really does like to speak my mind, tell people what I think but it doesn’t always serve me well. In these cases, I need to realize that they will have to learn the hard way. Vague much? Woof
Marvelous is… distraction. I know at some point you really need to face your demons head on but right now homesickness is far too great of a emotion. That being said, distraction has been my best friend whether it is staying busy with work, reading, going for walks or working on mini projects. The more the merrier.
Marvelous is… resume clean up. Finally I updated my resume. This is like one of those tasks I have had on my list for way too long and I knew applications are starting to pop up. That being said, my resume was still from my senior year of college so it needed some sprucing up. Getting it done was one big load off my shoulders.
Marvelous is …. sharing, Giveaway style. I don’t consider myself a high maintenance runner. However, I know I have a few pet peeves that can make my run go from epic to crappy. Shoe coming untied – really foot you are going to play these games? Elastic not holding my hair – did I really want to look like a model with my hair blowing in the wind? One that really gets me is the squint headache. You know when you spend way too long squinting trying to run into the sun? The worst. The solution? Running sunglasses. The Sunglasses Shop reached out to me to review their Dirty Dog Sport Ecco sunglasses. I had to do my research though, what was the Sunglasses Shop? The Sunglasses Shop sells designer sunglasses at affordable prices ranging form brands such as Ray-Band, Oakley, Carrera and Chanel. Their brand list is extensive and their trends are up to date. The Sunglasses Shop are one of the first players to preview the newest sunglasses collections. What I really liked was their easy to use website. You could search by men/female, brand name, frame, type (sport, goggles) or even based on the latest news stories. How sweet is that?
The Dirty Dog Sport Ecco Blue sunglasses arrived at my door right in time for some great running weather. Not only were these stylish but they actually worked. No moving around when I ran, no difficult vision, no sweaty pockets it caused – a total win win in my books. First and foremost though, they are affordable. For someone like me, that means a lot.
The Sunglasses shop is even giving a Pink pair away to one lucky winner! The giveaway ends Tuesday (1/15/13) night at 8pm. All you have to do is tell me is what is marvelous about your Monday or what are you keeping a secret you shouldn’t or why would you want a pair of Dirty dogs Sports Ecco sunglasses?
Well I have a Monday to kill.
