I have to admit I am still riding the high of ‘my mom is coming next week’ that I kind of keep forgetting I work Saturday after a full week of late nights and jam packed hours. Stress? Who cares, I have 6 days till my mom arrives. Mama’s girl all the way.
Thank you to everyone who tweeted, favorited or texted their congratulations to me. If you didn’t see, I got my second job! I am super pumped and can’t wait to learn more about it and get started. Someone is looking out for me because I sure needed this.
And jumping right in, let’s all savor what makes this day pretty sweet. #TGIF am I right?
It’s ok if… I am actually excited (kind of strong, but let’s say not mad…) that I am waking up at 6 am on a Saturday and working. Heck, I get to train some mentors and put my public speaking skills to the test. I love commanding a room so bring it.
It’s ok if… I buy random squash varieties because a. they are less than a dollar per squash (score!) and b. it is the only thing I can successfully not destroy in my kitchen. Newest try – carnival squash. Kind of like an acorn squash but with more flavor. Yum.
It’s ok if… I desperately need to go grocery shopping but can’t go till Saturday night. I probably won’t do a big haul because my mom will be coming Thursday night and I foresee grocery shops WITH A CAR – thank you moses.
It’s ok if…my sister is getting nicely bronzed as ever in the Turks and Caicos while I remain pasty white. It actually hurts how tan-less I went this year. Real world status hit hard with realizing I now have no summers. I missed you beach. Never even wore a bathing suit this summer.
It’s ok if… the neighborhoods you have to walk in to get to the three night mentor sessions scare the living daylights out of you. I do the old classic pretend to be talking on my phone to make the walk seem bearable. It was even nicer of my co worker to mention that a lot of people got killed around this area in the past year. Oh score.
It’s ok if… I have yet to buy pumpkin. You think after being nearly u-hauled by the blogger pumpkin love lately I would jump on the bandwagon but alas I haven’t. Soon enough, soon enough.
It’s ok if… you laughed, alone and very loudly to the new episodes of The Middle, Modern Family and the Office this week. So quality.
It’s ok if… you desperately want a secret admirer to send you a. an edible arrangement (oh my gosh get at me now) or b. this amazing GF Connect care package. I mean seriously, that would be heaven at my doorstep. I have to step up my game! If you are out there, I would love to have these appear. Please and thank you.
It’ ok if… you cry a little as you hand over both your rent and internet checks at the end of the month. And I am broke yet again. Non profit work woes.
I have a long Friday ahead with one school visit, one skype meeting with the head of BUILD in California and a four hour summit conference. Easy peazy right?

it’s okay to order a pizza instead of cooking or eating something remotely healthy for dinner, hehe. Especially since it was so good. I’m glad you got another job- but i know you like the one you have because you’re excited to go to it on a Saturday morning- which means it’s definitely a good job for you. Not everyone gets a job that’s such a good fit so early out of college, so you’re pretty lucky

i know you’re excited about grocery shopping with a car and having your mom come visit. You pretty much have to have a car here, and I guess i take that for granted. I can’t imagine NOT having one when buying groceries!
I really can’t wait for her to come for that reason but also just to see her face. Oh of course I am keeping both, the second one is remote and less hours. Very low key but at least some extra income.

Busy weekend here – all day country festival on saturday and a charity walk on sunday to support individuals with Down syndrome and the organization that I am on the board for. Also, I don’t get the pumpkin craze either!!
What a fun weekend, I kind of miss having festivals near me. I really love that kind of stuff, especially in a small town setting.
congrats again on the second job! So I used to have to go to the ghetto for my old job in NYC and it was during the day and I was still scared but my one friend told me to act/walk like you are crazy so no one will bother you for example talk to yourself and walk like u are limp ( I never did it but just putting it out there haha). People are more likely to attack or bother u if u are distratced ( I learned this in a criminal justice class in college, that is why most rappings happen between the hours of 5am and 8am because most ppl are alone and listening to music.)
hmmmm I will probably act crazy like I normally do. i really actually just feel super uncomfortable and didn’t think i would but I really do. plus some kid snatched my metro card today #fail
a funny story, I actually had a secret admirer sent me an edible arrangement on Valentines Day last year! At first, I thought my boyfriend sent it, but he said he didn’t. so I called Edible arrangements to find out, and they told me the name. It was my boyfriends friend, George. That’s when things got awkward!! haha. Luckily my BF isn’t the jealous type, so we just enjoyed the chocolate covered strawberries together and thanked George for them! lol
that is the best story ever, i wish stuff like that happened to me.
