Is It Over?

Woof team. Woof.

I wanted to pop in just to hit some of the highlights of today. I actually feel worse now then I did before but they said it was probably the side effects of all the flushing. Yum. Eating is not that pleasant so I stuck with easy stuff tonight. Hopefully tomorrow I can actually enjoy food. Not going to lie though, setting my alarm for 530 am on a Saturday is no fun but I keep reminding myself that even a short run before I have to catch the metro at 730 am will be worth it.

I am going to be real,I knew something wasn’t right last night when I started drinking that stuff. I drank it, slash gagged it down and then laid in bed to try and fall asleep. Now, I was prepared for an up and down night but on an empty stomach that was growling I actually fell asleep stat and slept straight till 6 am. What? Yep, nothing was coming. So I got worried, I felt how bloated I was but nothing was coming out. Wuh oh. I finished the drink at 6 am, almost vomited from all the liquid. Finally, I went twice at about 8 and 9 but not a lot by any means.

Fast forward after a walk and bus ride to the place, I was at the hospital. They prepped me with an iv and then came the anesthesia. I have never had anesthesia before but one minute I remember them putting oxygen on me and the next I was done. Strangely though, I woke up mid way through the procedure. I remember looking at them, them looking back and saying oh no and then I was out again.

While I am still waiting on the biopsy, the doctor did say there was nothing alarming however there is definitely something wrong. There was a lot of residual stuff in the upper colon and blockages along the way. What was comforting for the first time ever, he looked at me and said we will work on this. He is going to wait for the tests and then we will start experimenting with my eating, supplements (like Miralax, etc) and do further tests if needed.

I have to say, without an amazing staff there I would have been scared to death. They were sweet and a bit surprised I was so relaxed. So while I may not have answers I do rule out some huge surgery like problem. That is something to be thankful for.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Oh I’m sorry they found nothing! That must suck. A least it’s nothing too terrible and the staff were ok! You don’t give yourself enough credit for looking on the bright side :) you’re doing a great job! :)

  2. It’s good that they didn’t find anything alarming, but I do hope they find something to help you. I had my first colonoscopy a couple years back after the unfortunate consequences of a trip to India. The preparation was much worse than the procedure and fortunately all is OK.

Good luck – stay healthy – stay happy!

  19. I’m glad you have a good doc who wants to get to the bottom of this! Sorry that they didn’t have any answers for you yet though. I hope it’s something easily manageable. The blockage would maybe even explain why you were so bloated with drinking the prep even? Power to you for managing a run after all that though!

    • The run never happened… probably for the best. it will make my long run tomorrow that much better.I am so lucky to have found this doctor, I kept having nurses coming up to me telling me how lucky I was to have him.

      • Yeah, definitely take a day or so off of running. I mean your body is so taxed after that prep and procedure. The rest will do you more good. I have a good doctor here too and so happy for it!

  23. So so glad that the staff was so helpful! I know this must feel like such a long process, but it sounds really hopeful that the Dr is going to find out what is going on. I still can’t believe that you were able to run! You’re awesome!

  24. Gosh, I really hope you get better soon!
