Don’t worry, you are not getting away with a trade em up post. That will be a featured Wednesday Trade em up – less of a ring but I swear a great punch.
2 days of sweat, no rest, no breaks, not enough food and definitely some aggravation has made me the happiest person ever. Wait what? You heard me, I finally feel like I live in a home. Yes, no dining room chairs and there are many extra touches still needed but I finally feel like I live somewhere. And not in a cot on the side of the road. I am so grateful for my dad. We bickered, we laughed, we sweat buckets but we worked together. I honestly feel bad, I worked him like a slave worker! We literally finished up at 830 pm tonight so there was no way a post would be written, cleaning would happen, getting ready for the GI appointment tomorrow and setting an alarm for 530 am would allow me to do a full post. Ahead of me is a long three day work week (stay late each night for mentor training) and a wedding weekend. Let’s get ready to rumble….
NO but seriously let me show you why I am one happy girl. Who wants to come over? One of the perks is all this furniture really didn’t cost that much, thank you father for knowing how to find the clearance at seriously every store. Boo ya.
I would say that is one mighty nice home. As I sit on A BACK STABLE COUCH. Holy moses my cot never looked so bad.
Questions: How are you preparing for the week? What adds the personal touches to your home?

I love your furniture, especially that couch! Talk about one chic living room!
So sweet, I love the couch, it seriously was such a deal and so freaking comfy. Clearance rack all the way
AHH IT LOOKS AWESOME!!!!! Your style is fab!
Aw too sweet, still needs some decorations but you know a start.
I love it! Congrats on your new furniture, you definitely traded up!
Your home looks beautiful! You did a fantastic job of setting it up, I bet you will enjoy living it! It’s great you had your Dad to help you out, clearance items are awesome
He is the king of sales so without him I definitely could not have afforded any of this. So nice of him, he is probably exhausted though.
Hi Alex! I don’t comment much, but I am a consistent follower. I love your apartment! I’m so happy for you to finally have a place that looks and feels like a home to you. I really hope that it can bring you some relief and relaxation. Based on your posts, I feel like you work so hard in every part of your life that you deserve to have a place to kick back in.
Kathleen, thanks for commenting! I love talking to all my readers so it means the world to me that you read it. Thank you for your sweet words, I really like how it came out. Still some finishing touches of course!
That is seriously a beautiful home and I couldn’t be more happy for you! Seriously, thrilled!
I love how you call it a home and not an apartment, I need to start using that language.
Looks good!! When I moved into my first apartment without roommates I didn’t have any furniture for like 3 months. So you’re doing much better than I did. Decorating will be so much fun
Haha, ya my place was going on two months. I am excited to start doing crafts to make it more a homey feel.
Yay! It looks awesome, Alex– congrats on being all settled in!
Thanks laura, it feels so nice!
Alex!! It looks absolutely fabulous!!! I seriously and honestly LOVELOVELOVE every single piece!
It certainly looks like it was worth all the effort. Good luck with your GI appt tomorrow!! I’ll be thinking about you and hoping all goes well! As someone who lives in a house right now with very, very few personal touches, but who is planning a home with many, I can definitely appreciate the feelings you have behind your distinction between the definitions of “house” and “home”. Welcome home my dear.
(Ps. The answer to your question “Who wants to come over?” — Me! Me! Me! Pick me!)
You are so nice, I really agree. I hope I start to feel more like this is my space and my home and not some place I don’t feel comfortable relaxing in and having people over.
It’s turning out amazing girl. Love it all <3 Such a creative way to hiding your bed too. Ehh so happy for you <3 <3
Maybe on the way home from Greece I can "accidently" hope on the wrong plane and come visit you, haha.
I like that idea, do it. At least when you visit I won’t be making you stay on a cot. haha
True… even though i wouldn’t mind, well as long as you have some yummy food that I can eat lol.
Oh don’t worry, I can take care of you
Wow your place really does look great
…and you sound so happy!! Hopefully DC will start to feel more like home now for you!
Let’s hope so, I still have at least 10 months here!
Wow it loOks so good!!! Yay for Dads!!!
I know! I have to hand it to my dad for this one.
Looks amazing! So nice and cozy. Enjoy
It felt so nice to be in it last night, felt more like my space.
Your apartment looks freaking fantastic!!! I love your bookcase – I wish I had one that nice! Glad you had a good weekend overall :! Your apartment has waaaayyy more furniture than mine and I’ve been here for AGES!
They were seriously 40 dollars at ikea, get em! So easy to make a studio more of a separated space.
your place looks SOOOO amazing! I love that couch and the bookcase/bed set up is awesome. so glad your place has your little touches….makes everything so much more homey and like you actually live there lol :-p
I know, doesn’t it? But that means you have to visit. I also loved how you were the only one of my twitter awake and working out at 530 am. We are the early morning buddies for sure.
YOur place looks GREAT!!!!
so sweet, I would be lying if I said I didn’t love it.
YAY FOR FURNITURE!! Congrats girl
Thank you, I sure am one happy girl right now.
All of your hard work has paid off! Your living space is very awesome!!
It is really is a good feeling.
wohoo it looks awesome!! I see plenty of room for me on the floor when Jessie and I come to stay in March! I love the thing you have at the end of the bed, where is it from?
Ikea, super cheap. They are three pieces put together. Plenty of room for you guys, can’t freaking wait!
I love your apartment! So cute!
So sweet of you, I do really enjoy being in it now.
ahh that looks awesome!!!!!!!!!! So cute!
Thank you, I got so used to it bare so it feels like of weird.
So cute! Your place looks great!
Thank you! It really does feel more like mine.
Your apartment loos adorable!! I love it
Aw thanks Rachel, I do love it.
So, so cute! Love the furniture!
I love personal touches, like books and pictures. I’m really into Owls right now so I have a few owl touches here and there (book ends, a cookie jar, etc) and I collect wine bottles from all of the vineyards around Charlottesville
So glad you finally have a “home” not just a house
I really can’t wait for some personal touches. I like that idea of getting old bottles and stuff.
I absolutely love that rug you got!! Everything looks adorable. So glad your dad ended up coming!
I love that divider thing! You place looks adorable!!! Great job with it
Super easy, thanks Ikea! haha
I’m so happy for you that you have furniture! I was fortunate enough to get an apartment that more or less came furnished (couch, futon, two coffee tables, and a “side table” [aka an old speaker] had been left behind by former tenants), but we lacked a dining room table and chairs until last Thursday and I HATED it. Now we have those and a rearranged living/dining room area, which makes me so happy. We definitely need to add personal touches to our apartment, though: off white walls with only one clock for decoration = no good.
Ha I still don’t have dining chairs either. Working on it. But now you can come visit! Blogger dates are needed.
Super cute stuff! It seriously looks great. My place, on the other hand, is so out-of-order since I’ve moved– we keep buying storage stuff (aka an extra clothing rack, bins, shelves, etc), but it really just looks like a mess so far- ugh.
The good thing is I really don’t have a lot of stuff, I barely have any. Meaning there was no unpacking needed basically.
I love it! Your place looks so home-y and comfortable! I’m still working on that with my house, haha. I need a clearance-savvy shopper to help me out ;D
He really is a gem, I have learned my frugal ways from him.
Your apartment looks so good!! How comfy and homey!! Can’t wait to hear what your GI doc says!
Aw thanks! Sadly (as my next post will say) I really didn’t get any answers – only tons of tests I have to do this month. He says it could be various things all at varying degress of how bad they are. Ugh.
I think your apartment is great Alex, I mean it! The furniture is fantastic, pieces I would definitely choose myself.. and it just looks very neat, comfy and cozy
Good luck with the doctor, I look forward to hearing how it goes!
Thanks Tessa, I really enjoyed my first night in it. I felt more calm if that makes sense! Wish I was in Boston to enter that half marathon giveaway, so jealous!
It looks amazing Alex!!
After all the hard work you should be so proud!
I really am happy with how it turned out.
Umm, yea can you come decorate my apartment?
It looks so good Alex! I especially love the bookcase/shelving unit-thing (technical term, clearly).
Thank you, haha it was super simple stuff. Ikea all the way! I can’t wait to see your place all done!
love it! so cute! I have the SAME EXACT bookshelf while remolding my room last month … but I got the table along with it. love love!!
The bookshelves came in like a billion different sizes. Ikea has everything!
I know. my arm was tired from soft hammering the pieces together!
