Today was rough. My mouth is in pain, I can’t eat, the antibiotics are attacking my stomach (seriously? do other people experience this? I should just wear a diaper, TMI but no joke), and I was having one of those body hate days.
What was I to do? You know what, I was pissed at myself for feeling this way. I had no reason to feel this way yet I wanted to just cry. Past Alex would have jumped on that opportunity to beat myself up further, tear myself down and act in all the wrong ways. Instead, I took action. Which in the moment I didn’t realize what I was doing but looking back I realize I was practicing skills – the skills I once laughed at, the skills I thought would never help, the skills I deemed stupid. Whoa, how far I have come.
You know what I did? I reached out, I asked for support. I emailed friends, I texted a best buddy, I distracted myself with list making and I planned. That organization soothes me and calms me down. I may not feel 100% better but I feel… eased.
My alarm is set for 4430 am seeing that I have to be out the door on the metro by about 515 am. I am off to launch camp with 19 high schoolers until Thursday night where we get them prepped on the BUILD materials they will be seeing this next year. Food wise I am screwed, not only is my stomach (coupled with the antibiotics) rejecting food but gluten free options is almost laughable. I am armed with snacks but know nothing will be enough. Did I mention how much I need this weekend to recoup and recover? And I’m off!

Now, I had never tried these so was in shock when this amazing variety of their Pomegranate Chips, Lentil Chips and Hummus Chips arrived. The Pomegranate came in Salt and Pepper, White Cheddar and Sea Salt. This is one of their newest lines and oh my goodness so unique. The chips were purple pouches of heaven that had a subtle sweet flavor but with that saltyness I like in my chips. White Cheddar had me licking my fingers for sure. Along with the company’s perks, these are Vegan, Kosher and Vegetarian.
The Lentil Chips came in Sea Salt, Bruchetta, Creamy Dill and Jalapeno. Again, the texture on these chips is what made me just love them. It is a crisp crunch without the flaky dryness of chips. Plus, you could see the flavoring which is a huge deal for me. It is hard to pick a favorite flavor – of course you know I am partial for that kick of spice. These are vegetarian, vegan and have 40% less fat than normal potato chips.
The Hummus Chips yet again carried that shape of the others allowing the flavors to really have a kick in your mouth. These come in Sea Salt, Spicy Chili Pepper, Roasted Red Pepper, and Tomato Basil. If you like hummus and you like chips, this is a major win. I couldn’t get enough of these. These are vegetarian and have 50% less fat than normal potato chips.
Overall, it was the unique flavor that made these a winner. I could taste the flavor straight through which to me makes an amazing snack. I don’t want to eat something that is bland. Check out their website and Facebook for more information.
….. and I must add another little tidbit. I have had questions about my protein powder of choice. At this point I have tried Soy Protein, Perfect Fit Protein and the latest were some samples of Sunwarrior Protein Powder.
I am sold on Sunwarrior. It has amazing ingredients, “Sunwarrior Protein uses an old world process, combining the endosperm and bran from raw sprouted whole grain brown rice. This unique process creates the first completely hypoallergenic protein, containing all 9 essential amino acids and other non-essential amino acids in a perfectly balanced profile.” The Sunwarrior protein powders are raw, plant based protein powders making them vegan, vegetarian and Celiac friendly.
What I loved, was the taste. Both the vanilla and chocolate were to die for. I am sold on this stuff – especially in the convenient little prepackaged packets.
