It’s Ok If: Home Edition

Pick this girl eating a bowl of watermelon and grilled vegetables with her dog on one side and mom/dad on the other. Imagine the face that would in that scenario. One huge ass grin. I am one happy clam.

It’s ok if… you don’t eat all day because of going into work two hours early so you can leave at 1230 and make a plane at 230. THEN proceed to have so many delicious fresh watermelon and grilled vegetables that you call it a day. My tummy is so happy.

It’s ok if… a Dunkin Donuts is the only stop on your way home from the airport because your mom knows it is a given.

It’s of if.. you prefer the real hugs that beat out any virtual miss you reminders. It’s ok if… your 11 year old dog pees on the floor when she sees you.

It’s ok if… you are proud of your cousins that may not have won but were ‘wicked pumped’ about competing. (I mean how cool is this! They were finalists and went to LA!) http://screen.yahoo.com/finale-plugged-in-yahoo-screen-29522459.html

It’s ok if… you are intimidated by bigger bloggers and companies. I have a passion for blogging and sometimes want to do more and reach out to those big names but at the same time, I would never. I just don’t feel, I don’t know, qualified. Even ones that people may say are not that big still totally intimidate me.

It’s ok if… you feel a tad overwhelmed thinking about what you have to go back to. I hate having a mind like that. One that worries about all the things I have to do in regards to blogging and work when I get back rather than what I am doing now. Mindfulness is not my strong suit.

It’s ok if… you have a post that has been floating in your mind that just may come out this weekend because reviews and giveaways can not be done until I return on Monday night. It is deep and ask for help. Who knows if I will get the balls to type it.

It’s ok if… you can’t wait to have a run outside tomorrow in your home town. Can’t wait.

It’s ok if… you got teary eyed as your mom picked you up from the airport and gave you a hug.

It’s ok if… you chalked over $75 dollars to get on an earlier flight. No fun things for me or new clothes or new stuff for the next few months but hey – being home earlier was so freaking worth it.

Questions: What is your ok if today?

ps. you may or may not hear from me for a while depending on wifi service. i will be back!!!

  1. I totally understand that it’s hard to take pleasure in the present because you’re worrying about the future. But you’re on VACAY, so try super hard to take advantage. I have a worrying mind, which usually keeps me up at nights, so I’ve worked hard on telling myself that nothing I worry abou tnow will change anything. So I give myself “permission” to worry about it when it comes later. SO HAVE FUN!!!!! :-)

My it’s ok: It’s ok if…I slept in until 10:30am (ok, I woke up at 6:30, emailed into work and went back to sleep), watched Olympics all day because I haven’t been feeling well. Might do the same thing tomorrow :-)

  2. ohh man being home is PRICELESS. glad you got there as soon as you could and I can totally picture you nomming watermelon with your dog and your parents, gah that has to be huge relief! and YES to the DD iced coffee stop haha :-D . I really hope you get the ballz to write that post – sometimes I get nervous about writing what I think/feel but then when I do, the amount of support people show is huge. I’ve never gotten a nasty comment or email before, I can’t imagine anyone ever even thinking of sending one to you! Hmm my it’s okay: It’s okay if I wear my mom’s shoes more than my own. what can I say, she has better ones haha.

    • Whoa like no joke my mom just gave me her old shoes to bring back to work. we are the same person it is scary. i want a dunkin donuts date with you badly! I am actually heading to the maryland area next saturday for my cousin’s bridal shower for the afternoon, do you live in maryland? I was going to try and see if you chelsea and katie were near that area because we could meet up even for just a coffee date.

  3. It’s okay riding in a car for 5+ hours as Lon as you have books to read and 3G to blog and things(;

  4. AHHH YAY for being home!! Dunkin holds a special place in my hear <3 have fun on your hometown run tomorrow! enjoy every beautiful minute! and enjoy every puppy cuddle or piddle (izzy does too..no worries) :)

  5. Alex, you are honestly such an amazing blogger and person; please reach out to those “bigger bloggers” and companies! You don’t give yourself enough credit. Your posts are always original, deep, and most importantly real. I’m so glad that you’re happy and safe at home with your family. And you know everyone here will support you if you do decide to write that post. Enjoy your time home!

  6. Definitely understand the reaching out to bigger bloggers issue…it’s intimidating as hell!

    Enjoy your hometown run!

  7. Loved this “It’s ok” post. I’m so happy that you were able to get an earlier flight ((boo about the extra expense though)). I never noticed, but you and your mom look so much alike girl!! I really do love your “overwhelmed” face. With a face like that, you’d think all the guys would be lining up your wayy!! :) haha.

Seriously though Alex, enjoy every second you have at home. If you decide to write that post about what has been going on in your mind than wonderful, but if not.. just always know that I’m here for you if you need a person to talk too! With that being sad, I hope you have an awesome run tomorrow ((well today)) & take lots of pictures to recap your amazinggggg time @ home :)

  8. Oh it must be so good to be home! I always pay extra for earlier flights so I’m home to see my Mum. And I pretty much cry whenever I see her too! You’re so not alone there haha

  9. Enjoy your time home! And hey it’s okay to prefer to watch FRIENDS reruns over some of the newer tv shows!

  10. This post made me smile soooo much today,Alex! :) I am glad you’re home and happy there, and oh my gosh, your dog is so cute and sorry to say this, but it’s also cute she peed on the carpet because she was so excited to see you! That’s true love! ;)

  11. Ah- have a fantastic time at home!!! I don’t have to say that- you obviously will!! So exciting.

I’ve been travelling the past week, so have been a bit MIA myself! It’s worth it to spend time with loved ones :)

  12. I’m so happy your home! Relax and stay stress-free for a couple of days :) . Remember, it’s okay to forgo exercise for the weekend, it may even do the body and brain good!

  13. It’s ok if today my only workout is running two miles. School is starting soon and I’m just now getting back in the habit of waking up early, being at work all day, and remembering what it means to be on a schedule.

  14. i love this. i love you. dunkin.

  15. Lovely post, glad you are reunited with your family! Everything is OK if you are happy! So treasure every moment :)

  19. No shame in the DD run on the airport; sometimes I even make my parents pick up a DD coffee so I have it right when I’m in the car. #newenglandcoffeeproblems

  20. Taking an earlier flight is definitely worth $75! It’s okay if I can’t fit all my stuff in my car this weekend and have to pay to ship stuff home… I just hope it doesn’t cost me a fortune :)

  21. This is great, and Im glad your home!! I think giving up extra $$ is totally fine, especially when theres a mommy hug waiting for you :)

  22. Dunkin is a must, so is stuffing your face with watermelon!!! Have a wonderful weekend!

  23. Awwww. This post makes me sad. Hahah. I miss home.

  24. It’s okay if… your running pace wasn’t what you wanted. At least you get out there and do it. :)

  25. Those big, important bloggers and companies make me nervous, too! :(

  26. Alysha @Shesontherun

This reminds me of that section in Glamour magazine – my favorite part of that mag :) Mine would be: It’s OK if….you spilled strawberry jelly on your boob this morning. It’s nothing that a splash of cold water and a tide 2 go pen can’t fix :)

  27. These are all perfectly okay!! I hope you enjoy your time at home!

  28. onehealthymunchkin

Aww there’s nothing better than the feeling of being home. Have a great time! :)

  29. Everything on here is so ok! I hope you have an amazing time at home!

  30. Have fun at home! Your dog is so cute!

  31. Have fun!!! I’m jealous of all those veggies and watermelon. have you ever tried to grill the melon too? It’s delish!

  32. Hope you have an amazing time at home!!! The feeling of reuniting with family can be overwhelming (in the best way possible) so embrace and enjoy it. A dog peeing from excitement is the cherry on top…now that’s love :)

  33. Coming home early? ALWAYS WORTH IT. Moms are the best. My mom is my rock. The tears are love :) and you SHOULD feel like you are “worthy” of blogging, don’t ever let a “big blogger” intimidate you! They honestly don’t to me anymore and you know what helped was meeting a few of them at events! Maybe once you do you will realize that we are all the same :)

  34. Aww I can’t believe your dog peed on the floor!
Haha! She must have been VERY excited to see you!
    xo

  35. Take the time to enjoy home!!! Don’t worry–we’ll all be here when you’re back. :)

  36. Awww so glad you are home with your family!! And I would have gotten teary eyed too ;) .

  37. This post made me so happy for you! And to me, you’re a pretty big blogger. I don’t know how you do it! I feel special when I get comments from you!
