It’s A Runner Thing

A morning run coming off a real bed, total score. I felt like a million bucks despite the heat. Also ignoring the amount of sweat I produced.

Today, I put on my bargaining hat and go see if I can get a table at a reduced priced. It is the end of the month so I am going to finagle some magic today. A project pitcher should have been my career.

I realized this weekend has been all about getting to know me, so I am continuing the trend with this survey I saw on Ashley’s blog.

This or That?

    1. Run/workout in the heat and humidity or freezing temps and snow? For some reason, I love the heat. I love the feeling of sweating and my body warms up faster. I also grew up in cold MA so I hated the winter season when running was brutal. Since I moved to VA for school and now to DC, I am once again appreciating the hotter weather.
    2. Have washboard abs or flat abs? Flat, I like a more natural look. Let’s be real though, either look quite nice. I actually hate answering this question because my stomach has always been one of those trigger places, even less helpful when I have had so many stomach issues. I still remember the funniest thing I was told in treatment was by the nutritionist who heard us talking about stomachs. All she said was “I see those girls with the flat stomachs and I want to ask WHERE IS YOUR UTERUS.” Oh Carol.
    3. Dr. Oz or The Doctors? I watch neither.
    4. Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper? Eek this is a tough one. I don’t think you can compare them. They both motivate people in different ways and that right there is a great profession. I honestly hated the show the Biggest Loser so I lost respect for both when they did it. Don’t bash me but that show I thought taught the most unrealistic and unhealthy behaviors around.
    5. Frozen Yogurt or Ice Cream? Frozen yogurt all the way. I just don’t enjoy ice cream. Maybe its the texture or the thickness. Who knows.
    6. To train: Upper body or Lower body? Ha, yet again you ask. My arms are chicken wings. I wish I had muscle on my arms. Help!
    7.  Protein powder or food with protein? Food with protein. Just recently I started taking protein powder for convenience but I would so rather eat my protein. As I said, I crave it.
    8. Lunges or squats? Squats. Lunges never do well for my knees, I don’t feel like it helps as much.
    9. Sweet or salty? Oh gosh that is tough. I have to say both equally. I can have something sweet then something salty without a blink of an eye.
    10. Workout attire: cute or comfy? Well, the fact that I run in a cotton t and shorts everyday should say something. I don’t own any fancy workout attire. Simpler the better.
    11. Body Pump or Heavy lifting? Body pump. That group atmosphere is the only way I get my strength training on. But, to be fair, I have never lifted heavy ever.
    12. Yoga or Pilates? Yoga! I did Pilates once and just wasn’t a big fan. Maybe I should try it again though because like yoga, it can be a hit or miss.
    13. Nike or Adidas? Nike. Adidas never does well with my feet. I would always go for Nike over them.
    14. Running on the treadmill or outdoors? The dread-mill you ask? It has to be hailing cats and dogs for me to not run outside. I am serious, I run in all weather to avoid the treadmill. People think I am crazy but I love it.
    15. Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s? I rarely go to Trader Joe’s so I have to say Whole Foods. Also, Arctic Zero is there. SOLD.
    16. Summer or Winter Olympics? By far summer. I am not a huge fan of the winter sports while summer I would watch any of them over and over.
    17. Exercises classes or Exercise videos? Exercise class. I lack that self motivation to actually do a video by myself. Man, I need to motivation people.
    18. Steamed veggies or roasted veggies? Roasted. That isn’t even a question. Probably because I like my veggies on the crisper side.

I like that survey, definitely a new spin I haven’t seen in a while.

Enjoy your Sunday Funday!

Questions: Answer one for yourself! Is there one you were totally surprised about for me?

  1. I was kinda surprised you run in cotton shirts, because it’s so hot outside! Almost everyone I know does dry fit tees or tanks but a lot of girls here do sports bras, I just don’t have the mentality for that, and I guess it’s the flat washboard tummy or abs thing because I have neither. But more power to ya as long as you’re getting your runs in because you run really long distances. Good luck bargaining and getting a table!

  2. I don’t have fancy Lululemon clothes either. I work out in T-shirts are cotton shorts, lol! No shame. :)

  3. UM, so I just realized that we ran the same half. It seriously never occurred to me before.. But I picked up a bib the week before from a family friend and ran it without a chip. I can’t believe you run in a cotton shirt all the time.. I didn’t think the heat was too bad this morning, but seriously I would’ve died from dehydration on those hot days last week! I will never have flat abs ever, so I totally understand the “where is your uterus” comment. Lolz.

  4. Hooray for furniture!! I’m so glad things are starting to come together! Love this survey too! I totally agree with you on the roasted veggies…way better!

  5. hahaha pretty much ME TOO! Cute workout gear? um, no, I sweat too much for cute stuff. and YESSSS to froyo over real ice cream!!! It’s all about the soft serve texture in my opinion! and LOL “where is your uterus”….fair point hahaha

    • The comment is always what plays in my head when I get all body conscious. It makes me laugh at least. Froyo is where it is at. I can’t wait to make my own using unsweetened almond milk and my blender. I am waiting till I go home to buy some more PB2 to add to it, um yum. Cute workout gear with my sweat would just not be worth it.

  6. I definitely prefer food with protein as well. It’s healthier and tastes better!

  7. You should post something about these roasted vegetables because I like crispy things too and I am always looking for a way to make vegggies more interesting. Steaming is super boring.

    • Ok! I mean I roast vegetables almost every night. I freaking love the taste of them when they are not just in the microwave. Pick your favorite vegetable, some pam or olive oil on tin foil and roast on 375 until crispy. Super easy, fast and so tasty.

  8. I love that where is your uterus quote! So good! :) I love the heat too… I can’t do cold!

  9. Oh gosh, the dreadmill! I run outside in any weather, too! I always feel like I’m going to fall off the treadmill :P

  10. I will always pick running outside over the mill!

  12. I love this survey- definitely bookmarked it after seeing it on Ashley’s blog to do sometime soon! I prefer exercise classes to videos too- my motivation when it comes to home workouts is close to zilch!

  13. I loved reading this survey about you! I am totally the same way with loving the heat and being able to work up a sweat! And I can totally relate to needing to do upper body training. It seems running takes care of legs, but then my arms are left..needing some weightts?

  15. Hahah I once had a yoga teacher who said during our ab workout: “HOLD THAT CRUNCH, IF YOU WANT THOSE ABS.” Shen then proceeded to say, “Sexy abs, not flat abs. Are stomach is cylindrical, so how in the world do you expect to get FLAT abs? Just ask Columbus.” I laughed. so. hard.
