It is only 8:20 am here but I feel like I have been awake for hours. The time change is still a little bizarre. Sadly, it is a little foggy and rainy here but the warmth is supposed to move in. A little nervous to see where we relocate to this morning…
Man I am lucky. Even in Cali I am getting inspired by bloggers that really try to motivate others in their daily lives. Kaila is no exception. Her blog is another daily follow for me and I am so glad to share this post with you all.
Hey all you Run Within readers! I am so excited to be hanging out with you all today!
For everyone out there that’s just meeting me for the first time, let me introduce myself!

I am a soon to be freshman in college with a passion for public speaking, being outside, staying active, cooking up a storm, writing to express myself, and eating whole foods that nourish my body and mind! In a few months I’ll be graduating (thank god!) and can’t wait to get to college and share my passions with even more people.
Speaking of college, it feels amazing to finally know where I will be going in the fall and being done with the whole admission process. I still can’t believe high school is really over and that the stress of all that college admissions stuff is actually off my shoulders. It was certainly no walk in the park. Especially the essay writing for my applications.
Some are open ended, some are incredibly specific, some are waaaay out there…but every college essay requires you to be concise and let your voice come out through your writing.
When trying to figure out what to write one of the more important essay’s on, I decided to draw from something that I am passionate about…positivity.
I thrive on positivity. I am naturally a pretty anxious, easily stressed person so little doses of positivity, whether it’s an affirmation, a sweet blog comment, or a thoughtful pin, help get me through my day!
So when asked one of the most open-ended questions of all by my top choice school…”Why did you do it?”…I knew I wanted to discuss a little project I had worked last year.
All day, everyday negativity is constantly thrown at us by the media (and society in general!). It comes through TV shows, movies, news reports, and magazine cover! Everywhere you look we’re being told to lose this, lessen that, shrink this, stop, QUIT. But what about GROWING, GAINING, THRIVING?!
I wanted to give my readers the opportunity to get those messages out there. Ones that helped people in a positive way instead of pervading their minds with useless information that only makes people feel less hopeful.

I held a contest calling for ‘alternative’ magazine covers (mine is the one above) that promoted things my readers were passionate about, that brought them happiness, or that just made them (and others!) feel good! <-That is the type of positivity we all need in our lives.
I wanted to share those covers with you all today. Hopefully their positive messages will help counter some of the negativity in your everyday life and bring you one step closer to realizing that you are fine, you are worthy, and you are important…just the way you are.

Talk about inspirational, right?!
As I said, this was a project done last year on my blog…if you would like any more info regarding it or if you’d even like to read the essay I wrote on it, please feel free to email me! Proulxkr@roadrunner.com
Thanks again to Alex for letting me come hang out with you all for a bit! Please stop by my blog to say Hi sometime!
-Kaila-

What a great start to my morning! I’ve just discovered affirmations – they are such a great way to stay grounded when it’s easy to let my anxiety control my thoughts and behaviors. Such a wonderful idea for a contest.
Oh gosh affirmations are the best!
Thank you so much for letting me guest post! Enjoy your trip girl!!
Thank you for doing it! Your blog is so amazing and inspirational.
Nice to “meet” you, Kaila! Good luck with school, college is such an exciting time.
