I hope you all like that song as much as I do. I memorized it in high school. I was and still am obsessed with that song.
You try to match wits, you try to hold me
But I bust through.
Gonna make a break and take a fake,
I’d like a stinkin’ achin’ shake
I like vanilla, cuz it’s the finest of the flavours
Prepare for a beast. It is always nice to end off the week with just some thoughts. And boy today do I have a lot. I mean technically today is my first day of the weekend (thank you sweet work schedule that has flex Fridays until the end of July). Today after my run, I plan to hit up Bikram, go to the library and do some errands.
1. Finding an apartment is hard. Woof. I swear I have gone through every outlet and still barely a response that. DC is expensive, like super expensive, which makes it even harder to really find a place. I have posted on various sites, gone through various sites and even reached out to random groups. Desperate much?
2. Tonight my roommate and I are going to Jazz in the Garden. It is a free event they put on each Friday where jazz music is played and you can just sit and listen. Free Friday entertainment, yes please.

3. I took the plunge and finally applied to be a FitFluential Ambassador. I have been staring at that application for too long. Even if I don’t get it, I am proud I actually followed through on something I said I would do. I was pretty honest and open in my essay so let’s see what happens. I have a while to wait sadly. The waiting game is the worst.
4. I met a girl who was looking for a roommate in DC because she needs a place to live in DC. I met her through a mutual RUF (religious fellowship group). She was great, I mean we would be ideal to live together – she said she wants to live near a Whole Foods because she loves it, she is vegetarian, very much a routine person. I know we would hit it off but sadly she is looking at places that just have too high of rent for me. I am bummed. If only I had a place to say ‘hey we should live here’ that was more affordable but I do not.
5. This weekend one of my projects is planning a DC blogger meet up. Yep, I’m doing it. Right now I am still trying to connect to fellow bloggers so that I can get a wide pool of people to come. I don’t know a ton of DC bloggers but I am hoping between all of us we can get a good group to hang out. I will announce it when the plans are more finalized so keep your eyes open if you are a blogger near DC!
6. I made my first quality ice coffee using my new blender. Ah, delicious! Just added ice, coffee and some NuNaturals vanilla drops. So delicious and icy. For some reason the blender made it taste that much better.
7. I have been really good about saving money. I haven’t gone out to eat or bought coffee out. Those are things I am so proud of. I got an idea to when I go shopping every 1.5/2 weeks to buy what was on sale for produce, even if I have never had it before. I think it will mix up my options and make me experiment more.
8. On Saturday, I am going to a Theta alumni get together in DC. It is at a lady’s house in the afternoon. Truth, I am kind of nervous. I was not the biggest sorority girl but I am in the mood to make new friends. I hope to really connect with people and potentially find a running buddy or roommate! High hopes people.
9. I have been drinking water like a boss. I have stuck to no soda, go me!, and really been chugging water all day. I think with my stomach being a freaking mess, water is so necessarily. I know a good water flush always helps my body restore itself.
10. At work each morning before I start, I have been making a to do list of things to accomplish when I get home. It really gets me going for the day and feel less scattered when I return after a long day at work. I am a huge fan of checking things off so it has kept me quite productive. Last night I successfully booked my flight home to Boston in August for the Falmouth Road Race. I am taking two days off of work so I can leave Thursday night and come back Monday night. I want it to be August already! Home and Cape Cod seems so appealing right now.
11. I kept getting these reminders about “bell ringing” on Thursdays right before we leave for the weekend. I had no idea what it was but didn’t ask. I went into the conference room and there sat free beer and watermelon. Uh, I get used to this. No beer for me but a slice of watermelon was the great way to end a long day at work. Get in ma belly.
12. Being informed by lovely Maren that liquid aminos are gluten free and can replace soy sauce. Is this true? You don’t understand how much I miss soy sauce, the one thing I really hate living without. Where can I get these liquid aminos? I am so intrigued.
13. I have been loving blogs this week. For various reasons…some just for taking some big steps in their own life, others for reflecting on life and just awesome posts overall. If you haven’t already, check out
- Cinnamon’s post that reflects on blogging. No apologies needed.
- Kat’s big step in kicking the food logs to the curb.
- Cait’s reflection on summer guilt and how to combat it.
- Chelsea describing what running has done for her (something I can so relate to!)
- Fun Fit and Third taking some big risks in her summer bucket list.
- Paige finding what is important to her, something we all forget about in the daily chaos.
- Alex’s story about her disorder she never told, raw and genuine.
- Kate reaching out and developing her plan to improve her health.
Another one bites the dust.
Questions: Any good creations you have made lately? What is one thing you are proud of this week?

Thanks for the share, girlie! I appreciate it!
And I’m so happy I was just able to find your blog… Very cute!
well deserved shout out, I loved the post.
Sorry apartment hunting is so rough
Enjoy your free entertainment tonight!
Ugh, I wish I could just find one with a snap.
I am so proud that you want to connect with others! How cool is it that you are going to plan a blogger meet up!
These pictures are hilarious…I actually owned a Welsh corgi….Love that breed!
Have a great time at the free Jazz night…:)
I can’t wait for this blogger meet up, it is going to be a blast.
I LOVE THAT SONG!! I memorized it my freshman year in college after I saw 10 things I hate about you for the first time and it became a thing between my roommate and I to sing it to our freshman advisors. Thank you for the shout out. Good luck apt hunting! It was one of the things that made Boston not feasible for me. I couldn’t find anywhere in my price range that allowed dogs and was close-ish to the things I needed (even outside Boston proper).
Ya, I am more than willing to live right outside the city .for me it is better to be comfortable and not stress about price then get something high priced.
I want to attend a blogger meet-up, that is probably my biggest goal as a blogger right now!
Same here! I am planning this one so it will be my first.
Wow, sounds like you’re doing great!! Lots of fun things on the go
Jazz in the garden looks absolutely lovely. I went to an outdoor film in the Mall the last time I visited my friend in DC. It was so much fun- I love all the free stuff available in that city!!
Good luck on the continued apartment hunt! and have fun with the blogger meet-up- I hope it goes well!
Aw thanks. Ya, the amount of free things you can do really makes me happy
sounds like you’re living it up in DC-good for you! that piñata quote is so funny and so true. now I’m kind of sad there aren’t piñatas just floating around
Free candy at all times of the day would be the perk of that, ya DC has actually been good for me.
Thanks for the shout out, my friend! I hope you have a great run today! Wish I could go to Bikram with you
Jazz in the garden sounds SO fun!
Hope you have a great weekend!
I wish you could too, bikram is a runner’s worst nightmare but most needed stretch, I feel like I have better breathing because of it strangely.
Ha! I memorized that song too. Awesome.
You can get liquid aminos at any health food store. I found mine at Whole Foods – made by Bragg’s and it’s even in a spray bottle for an easy salad spritz!
Whoa, I need to check this out. Does it really taste like soy sauce?
Not exactly, but it’s close! The flavor is a bit more mild.
Hm still intrigued.
Apartment hunting is such a bummer when you see how high rent is
Also, Theta was my neighbor in college! That’s exciting
Have a wonderful weekend!
so cool! Apartment hunting will be the death of me.
Okay, this isn’t really relevant to your post, but . . . my husband follows a lot of the blogs I follow now (although he doesn’t like to admit it) however he rarely remembers names. So, you are The Girl With Curly Hair in the Sorority Shirt. That’s all I had to say today. Oh, and I loved that post by Cinnamon as well. Now off to check out your other links.
HAHAHAH this made me die. The least sorority girl around and that is how he remembers me. Curly hair though is true.
Aww thanks so much for including me love!! I appreciate it
And I loooved the barenaked ladies when I was younger. Ok well I actually still do. Half the reason I watch The Big Bang Theory is so I can hear them sing the intro song
I love that show! well deserved missy, I loved the post.
Well, I guess here’s proof that I follow some blogs my wife follows. …. Bell Ringing Thursdays? That’s a great idea. I just joined our company’s corn hole league (those outside the Midwest might need Google). I told the organizer I’ve never tossed a bean bag without a 12 oz counterweight in my left hand. So I think now the “Employee Spirit” team will be providing the booze. We might need to extend that to Bell Ringing Thursdays.
DO IT. I kind of love the idea of celebrating the little wins of the week. You can’t go wrong with free booze and food.
That was my favorite song back in like 8th grade. I still love it and blast it whenever it comes on the radio
. My parents hated it so I think that’s why I liked it so much. I hope you can find a roommate if the apartments there are so expensive- maybe the girl who you like will come down on the price she wants to pay or you guys can figure something out. Trust me though, I’d rather be a little more broke and live with someone nice than live with someone who gives you a hard time to save money.
true true, is it weird I kind of want to live alone too? For some reason I just know price is a big thing that I have to worry about. uck.
That dog, had me dying. It’s face!! I hate how expensive apartments are. I hope you find one soon!! That jazz in the park sounds like soo much fun!!! I wish I had something like that around where I live! I hope you do have a blogger meet up. I have yet to do one, I want to sososo bad!
Isn’t that dog adorable, I swear that is me with watermelon. my face exactly. I am pumped about this blogger meet up, I am planning it and can’t wait.
I am very proud of my blackberry margaritas. I’d never mixed a drink myself before so the whole experience was new. I should have taken a video or something. Me in the liquor aisle without a clue… that’s comedy.
That looks amazing, I saw those. I am the same way!
You can get liquid amines at whole foods- they’re a great spy sauce replacement! Happy Friday!
Man if they really taste like soy sauce, I’m sold!
I hope you get to become a FFA! You’ll make a great one!
Crossing my fingers for sure!
YAY for the blogger meet up! And good for you for doing the sorority event–it’s so so hard to put yourself out there, but it’s worth it! I promise! Good luck!
check out my blog in about a half hour for an update
I know i feel super awkward but I think it is good for me.

jazz sounds fun! yay for a possible blogger meet up- i’m only an hour and 20 minutes from DC you will have to let me know
check out my post coming in the next half hour missy!
aww thanks for the shout! and this post totally made me smile. PROPS for no soda and saving $$ and getting out there for a sorority meetup! Even if you weren’t a typical sorority girl, I doubt that’ll be an issue since no one will be in the college mindset anymore. Well, I would hope not anyway haha. And I’m sooo jealous of this blogger meetup! Maybe I’ll drive down to DC and crash it hahaha
PLEASE i would love if you could crash it!
Yes!! DC is only 2.5 hours away, I’m totally there!
Oh my gosh seriously! Holy shiz i’m so excited. I had no idea you were that close.
Thanks for the shout out girl! Much love!!
Your post was great, it was all you!
thanks so much for the shout-out, alex. i’m so glad you and i can continue to help each other to live life by less-rigid rules – or no rules
i wish i lived in DC, i’d love to live there and if i did i’d be your roomie for sure!! i’m so glad to hear you’ve applied to be a fitfluential ambassador. you’re definitely fitfluential
Aw thanks Cait, I adored your post, which is so why I added it. I wish you were here too!
