Anyone who follows me on Twitter saw some of my crazy tweets today. Started out great with a long run – just perfect for my training plans. I get back take off my shoe and this.
Now, it didn’t really hurt, only to the touch. But darn was there a lot of pressure. At first all I saw was this sausage toe and kind of laughed it off. I had a morning planned with the roommate so bother.
We walked about 4 miles to a little store to do some of her wedding stuff. Noon comes around and I see that this red streak is now progressing up my leg. Oh joy. I text my mom and get a GET TO THE ER text. Not what I was expecting at all.
Come 1 pm, I am sitting in the ER waiting room being looked at and doctors baffled by how fast it spread. They drew the line so they could see if after the IV drip it was still moving. They did tons of blood work just because they were so unsure of what it was. Three hours later, I am out the door with ten days of heavy antibiotics I take every six hours – bacterial infection as the most likely cause but still unsure. Plus, I have to go back tomorrow for a check up.
Luckily, I told them I was a runner and they said I should have no problem doing any activity. The only thing I see could be the *cough* stomach distress that these antibiotics cause. Not fun at all.
Saturday of fun for sure. Party animal I am I have some blogs to read and an early night with alarms set for each six hour block.
Hope you all had a better Saturday!
Questions: Ever have a really bad infection? Do you hate taking antibiotics? What did you do this Saturday?

That is so scary!!! Is the infection painful? I would have thought it was just a blister.
It was painful just because of the swelling but luckily I have barely any pain. So fortunate for that one.
Eek! I can’t believe how fast that happened. I hope it gets better and isn’t something serious! Keep us updated girl.
It already feels so much better! Yay drugs. haha.
Oh my goodness! That is very terrifying! I wonder how that even happened in the first place! I hope you get better fast! And the foot is feeling back to normal.
My foot already feels like it is back to normal which is so amazing. thank you meds!
Oh no!! I’m so sorry. Keep us updated on how you are doing! Sending prayers your way. xoxo
thanks Brittany, I actually feel great today and no more swelling. So thankful!
Wow, that looks awful! I’m glad you got some meds for it and wish it speedy healing. Definitely not a fun way to end a run.
I know right? And I had no idea it was there. I already feel so much better, thank goodness.
Eep! That looks like it hurts! I hope you feel better soon(:
Meds worked like a charm, feeling great today, thanks for the well wishes!
dude that’s insane how fast it spread!! I’ve had a bacterial infection before, no idea how I got it but my aunt was driving me to the airport to fly home for winter break my freshman year, and my thumb started hurting like crazy…by the time I landed in Philly the pain was all the way to my shoulder and I had a crazy rash to go with it! my mom was like “uhhh hospital, NOW” haha. antibiotics did the trick though, they really do screw with your stomach….gahh. Here’s to a better Sunday for you!!
the stomach part is what destroys me, ugh. But they already have kicked in and I feel great with basically no swelling.
Poor girl! That looks horrible
Take a day off for yourself tomorrow and just relax
P.S. I may or may not have asked my boyfriend to go buy us some runts when we were out on the patio earlier having a glass of wine. We also may or may not have eaten two full boxes full of them. Just as wonderful as I remembered.
LOVE IT. runts for the win every time. It looks worse than it is, luckily the meds already kick in and basically no swelling.
Gahhh that’s so scary!
All in a Saturday, right? haha. I already feel so much better.
Infections are awful!! My Saturday involved a morning workout, studying and a beautiful candle-lit dinner with my man (and a bottle of red)
Love weekends!
Sounds like a great Saturday!
Good lord that looks terribly painful! Hope the antibiotics help with the pain…be sure to rest up

The meds are helping, I already feel so much better. AS much as I hate them, they are a life savor.
aww you poor thing! Take a little rest!! and your AB’s! Hopefully you feel better soon!
Already feel 100x times better!
In true blogger fashion, you remembered to take pictures while all of this was happening, Haha.
I’m sorry your toe looks like a piece of sausage, hopefully the antibiotics will make that go away in a blink of an eye. I’m so glad you went to the ER and got it figured out. Your tweets scared me!
I know! I for once pulled out my blogger ways and took pictures!
Yikes that is crazy, I am so sorry this happened girl! Get better soon of course!
Already feeling 100x better! Yay for meds!
Yikes! I hope it isn’t too serious- get better soon!
I feel so much better thanks to the medicine, thanks for the well wishes.
My God that doesn’t look too good….
It kinda looks like a spider / insect-bite to me… how would you get a bacterial infection just out of the blue?! I’m glad you’re feeling better! Take care!
They said it was a bacterial infection from a blister. Luckily, it looks so much better and feels so much better. Meds all the way!
oh my gosh u poor thing! glad it was something that could be fixed by anitbiotics and you didnt require surgery or anything!
I know thank goodness, they said one more day and I could have lost feeling in it.
