My No Good Very Bad Day

Anyone who follows me on Twitter saw some of my crazy tweets today. Started out great with a long run – just perfect for my training plans. I get back take off my shoe and this.

Now, it didn’t really hurt, only to the touch. But darn was there a lot of pressure. At first all I saw was this sausage toe and kind of laughed it off. I had a morning planned with the roommate so bother.

We walked about 4 miles to a little store to do some of her wedding stuff. Noon comes around and I see that this red streak is now progressing up my leg. Oh joy. I text my mom and get a GET TO THE ER text. Not what I was expecting at all.

Come 1 pm, I am sitting in the ER waiting room being looked at and doctors baffled by how fast it spread. They drew the line so they could see if after the IV drip it was still moving. They did tons of blood work just because they were so unsure of what it was. Three hours later, I am out the door with ten days of heavy antibiotics I take every six hours – bacterial infection as the most likely cause but still unsure. Plus, I have to go back tomorrow for a check up.

Luckily, I told them I was a runner and they said I should have no problem doing any activity. The only thing I see could be the *cough* stomach distress that these antibiotics cause. Not fun at all.

Saturday of fun for sure. Party animal I am I have some blogs to read and an early night with alarms set for each six hour block.

Hope you all had a better Saturday!

Questions: Ever have a really bad infection? Do you hate taking antibiotics? What did you do this Saturday?

I’ve had a bacterial infection before, no idea how I got it but my aunt was driving me to the airport to fly home for winter break my freshman year, and my thumb started hurting like crazy…by the time I landed in Philly the pain was all the way to my shoulder and I had a crazy rash to go with it! my mom was like “uhhh hospital, NOW” haha. antibiotics did the trick though, they really do screw with your stomach….gahh. Here’s to a better Sunday for you!!

  8. Poor girl! That looks horrible :( Take a day off for yourself tomorrow and just relax :) P.S. I may or may not have asked my boyfriend to go buy us some runts when we were out on the patio earlier having a glass of wine. We also may or may not have eaten two full boxes full of them. Just as wonderful as I remembered.
